Who are You?

 The Model in Progress 1° Part!

Here we are—after designing and printing it, painting it was an absolute must.

Since the model was created with relatively few subdivisions, it proved to be somewhat challenging, especially when masking was required to selectively paint certain parts.

I decided to try a different technique. Although quite slow to execute, I used watercolor pencils. As I mentioned, it’s a slow—and let’s be honest, sometimes a bit tedious—process, but it allows for a great deal of control over what you’re doing.

To summarize:

• Base color: Tamiya XF-4 Yellow Green

• Details: various colors from Vallejo

• Chrome and metallics: the fantastic paints from Alclad

For the panel lines, I used AMMO Shaders (Dirt tone) and the Panel Line Accent Color by Tamiya. You might wonder why I used two different products for essentially the same purpose—simply because one is acrylic and the other is enamel-based. Depending on the base coat, I chose the one that would avoid causing any damage.

All scratch and paint-chipping effects were created using Caran d'Ache PRISMALO watercolor pencils, light grey 003 and a 2B black pencil. The light grey was used to simulate chipped base paint, while the black pencil recreated exposed metallic grey surfaces.

A particularly noteworthy feature is the cyclops eye, which is ultimately the model’s main focal point. I experimented with a transparent effect by creating reflected highlights, deep shadows, and subtle red reflections around the eye to suggest luminosity. It was my first attempt at this technique, but I’m quite satisfied with the result.

As for the hands, I wanted to break up the monotony of the Yellow Green, so I opted for a contrasting color: a bold Tamiya X-7 Red, treated using the same approach as the rest of the model.
I also used powders to create small dirty areas, using the Tamiya Weathering Master, which added a bit more “worn” character to the poor mecha’s paint.

Soon I will complete the central bust as well, maintaining this color palette.

Eccoci qui, oltre che disegnarlo e successivamente stamparlo era d'obbligo dipingerlo.
il modello essendo realizzato con poche suddivisioni rimane un pò impegnativo, sopratutto quando è necessario effettuare dei mascheraggi per dipindere alcune parti in modo selettivo.
Ho voluto provare un altra tecnica, anche se abbastanza lenta da realizzare, ho utilizzato delle matite acquarellabili. Come ho detto è un processo lento e diciamocelo anche un pò noioso, ma permette di avere un grande controllo di quello che stiamo facendo. Quindi per sintetizzare:

- Colore base Tamiya XF-4 Yellow Green, mentre per i dettagli vari colori della Valleyo.
Per le cromature e i metallici i fantastici Aclad 

- Per le pannellature ho utilizzato gli Shader AMMO tonalità Dirt e il Pannel line Accent Color della Tamiya, vi chiederete perchè due tipologie per fare la stessa cosa, semplicemente uno è un acrilico e l'altro è ha base di solvente enamel, quindi a seconda della vernice base  prendevo quello più adatto per fare danni.
Tutti gli effetti dei graffi e delle sverniciature sono state effettuate con matite Caran D'Ache serie PRISMALO grigio chiaro 003 e matita nera 2B, la prima per simulare lo scrostamento della vernice di fondo, e la seconda per simulare il grigio metallico portato a nudo.
Particolare di rilievo l'occhio da ciclope, che è in fondo il punto di maggiore attrattiva del modello. Ho provato  un effetto trasparente realizzado luci riflesse e ombre di profondità e i riflessi rossi intorno all'occhio per dare una parvenza di luminosità, premetto che è la prima volta che ci provo, ma ne sono abbastanza soddisfatto.
Per quanto riguarda le mani mi piaceva rompere la monotonia dello Yello Green ho quindi optato per un colore a contrasto un bel rosso Tamiya X-7, anchesso trattato allo stesso modo del resto.

Ho inoltre utilizzato le polveri per creare piccole zone sporche, usando i Tamiya weathering master che ha conferito ancora un pò di "vissuto" alla povera vernice del mecha.
Prossimamente completerò anche il busto centrale mantenendo questa palette colore.
